Team AdAge India hosted a brief panel discussion with media industry veterans Ashish Bhasin, Chairman & CEO - South Asia, Dentsu Aegis Network and Shashi Sinha, CEO of IPG Mediabrands India, where we discussed the new developments at Goafest 2018.
Bhasin started by saying that 2018 is the ‘Reset Year’ for Goafest. The organizing committee has collapsed the number of categories based on feedback from everyone in the industry. There have been over 255 organizations that have participated and the number is expected to go up as the awards are still going. The awards have got a lot more democratized. Few years ago, it was all about bigger agencies from Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, but today there are agencies from all over the country. There are agencies from Kerala, Hyderabad and other places. It is a good thing as the awards should not be a purview of large agencies. To this Sinha added that it is a good sign for our industry as everyone is coming here and it more like a festival now. The outreach program has been immensely successful. The critical point here is that it is the ‘Reset Year’ for the awards.
